The irrigated agriculture is mainly dependent on borewell pumping system (tubewells), as the canal water supplies are generally limited in many areas. Submersible Pumps of various capacities are available in the market, this calls for scientific selection of suitable pumpset for conservation of energy and water. The pumpset should be selected as per operating conditions at the farm. This cloud based decision support system can be used to know the required pumping capacity based on actual operating conditions as per cropping pattern and geo-hydrological conditions.     [A K Jain]
